Let us meditate on two topics: (1) Wind & Fire & (2) The Holy Spirit Within as we celebrate the birth of the Church, reflect on our own personal faith, & share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to others.
Summary
Friends, what a dramatic scene! Before Pentecost, the disciples & other believers were gathered together to celebrate the Feast of Harvest, perhaps still reeling from the crucifixion & resurrection; maybe anxious, bound by complacency, doubt, exhaustion, & fear.
Unexpectedly, the small group of believers were enveloped by the very presence of God. After the Wind & Fire, they were filled with the Holy Spirit allowing them to burst forth with courage & divine energy, fearless & grounded, ready to proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. And there were others who heard the good news that day & received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
So, today, like Christians in the past,
- we celebrate Pentecost, the birth of the Church through God’s outpouring of Wind & Fire & indwelling power of the Holy Spirit
- we reflect on our own personal faith &
- we share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to others.
Conclusion
Jesus said, “If you believe in me, you will know the truth, & the truth shall set you free.” “I am the way, the truth & the life.” In John 14:27, Jesus said, “I leave my peace with you. I give my peace to you. I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be troubled. And do not be afraid.” Wind & Fire – The Holy Spirit Within is still a reality today.
Friends, we will converse more about these things in the months to come. Till then, are you calling on Wind & Fire to course through your life & allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you to bring faith, hope, & love to others?
